In addition to the larger boat events, the Watercooled centres also offer a huge range of beach activities including dinghy and Hobie sailing, windsurfing, wakeboarding, waterskiing, SUPs and kayaks, Zapcat thrill rides, kite surfing and inflatable tow rides. All of these activities are available individually or as part of a corporate package and can be mixed and matched with the other Corporate sailing activities that Watercooled offer.

Why sail in the UAE?

With year-round sun and pristine beaches, together with unbeatable shopping, an intriguing traditional culture and a safe and welcoming environment, the UAE is fast becoming one of the world’s prime sailing destinations.  Dubai has some well established yacht clubs and sailing events whilst Abu Dhabi has a history of Dhow racing and is also now firmly on the Volvo Ocean racing circuit.

The Gulf and Indian Ocean experience at least eight months of great sailing weather with reliable afternoon winds generally from the north/north west with between 10 to 15 knots of wind making it a great sailing area for novice or experienced sailors alike.

A flight time of only 6 hours to Dubai and Abu Dhabi and only 3 or 4 hours ahead of the UK time zone, makes the UAE a convenient and affordable destination to get to for some warm winter sailing.

Take a look in more detail…

Watercooled has its centres at some of the most desirable hotels and locations in the UAE. In Dubai the Watercooled clubhouse is situated on the shores of the Jebel Ali Golf Resort which is Dubai’s only true resort hotel and listed as one of the top ten beach clubs in the UAE thanks to the number and quality of watersports activities and tuition offered by Watercooled. The hotel is located just 20 minutes outside the main shopping district of Dubai, 30 minutes from the airport and away from all the high rise blocks, yet is easily reached by very affordable taxis. The Resort is made up of two hotels, the Jebel Ali Beach hotel and Palm Tree Court and as well as having a marina and dive school it has 3 pools, tennis courts, riding stables, a football academy, a shooting club and spa. It’s also home to a 9-hole, par 36, championship golf course designed by Peter Harradine which regularly hosts the world’s best players as part of the official curtain raiser to the European PGA Tour event, the Dubai Desert Classic. There are a number of board options, and the hotel is the only hotel in Dubai to offer an all inclusive option. Watercooled can arrange packages to include board or this can be arranged separately.

Our other Dubai centre is on the shores of the DoubleTree by Hilton Jumeriah Beach Hotel. Boasting a fantastic location on ‘The Walk,’ a vibrant waterfront promenade in Dubai, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Dubai Jumeirah Beach hotel features 110 spacious one-, two- and three-bedroom suites, some with fully equipped kitchens and breathtaking views of the Arabian Gulf Sea and The Palm Jumeirah, an iconic man-made island. Each suite at this Dubai hotel offers a balcony, air conditioning, a 47-inch TV and WiFi. Relax on the white sands of the hotel’s private beach, swim in the outdoor pool, work out in the complimentary 24-hour fitness center or treat yourself in our Wellness Center with treatment rooms, a sauna and steam. Dine in one of the hotel’s two restaurants offering cuisine from around the globe, or enjoy a snack in the pool bar. With six meeting spaces, modern A/V equipment, a 24-hour Connectivity Center and a dedicated Event Team, our Jumeirah Beach hotel is perfect for a successful conference. The hotel is close to business hubs, including Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai Media City and Dubai Internet City. Popular Dubai attractions, including the Emirates Golf Course, Ibn Battuta Mall and the Mall of the Emirates, are just a 10-minute drive from our beautiful Jumeirah Beach hotel. The JBR Metro station is a 10-minute walk away, and Dubai International Airport is reached by car in 40 minutes.

A short hop from Dubai is the neighboring emirate of Abu Dhabi. Less glitzy, and more traditional in its ways, Abu Dhabi is an equally desirable sailing destination. Watercooled has two centres in Abu Dhabi with a downtown location between the Hilton and the St Regis overlooking the Corniche and also at the world famous home of Formula One, Yas Marina.

The Watercooled clubhouse on the Corniche is situated on the beach between the Hilton and the St Regis offering a choice of accommodation to suit different tastes and budgets. All the beach watersports activities are offered using top notch, brand new equipment that Watercooled is synonymous with and aided and assisted by experienced and fully trained staff. The Corniche is a fantastic destination to enjoy the multitude of Watercooled’s watersports and watch the traditional Dhow racing however the larger boat sailing is centred at Yas Marina.

Watercooled’s team of sailors and engineers are fully qualified, highly experienced and very familiar with the UAE waters.

Our professional skippers will be on board our fleet of boats to provide clients with a full racing experience in a safe and secure manner. And whilst perfect for all team building and corporate regatta events, the warm waters of the UAE are also the ideal venue for pre-season or winter training for professional sailing campaigns. Team building

For a unique team building activity there is nothing more effective than being on a boat as part of a team experiencing racing. Our team building days start from our sailing base at Jebel Ali Golf Resort or Jumeirah Beach Dubai or Corniche Abu Dhabi, or we can position the fleet at any UAE marina location. After a briefing and basic sailing introduction, each member of the team is given the chance to experience competitive racing as boats are pitted against each other around a set course or for single boats, timed runs around the buoys.

Watercooled can provide full event branding including sails, flags, event wear as well as complete media footage.

So what happens on the water? Whether it’s Fleet racing with the whole fleet of boats or Match racing with two identical boats battling against each other at one time, both require strategy, tactics and team work. By providing a skipper if necessary, all variations of competitive sailing can be achieved in a safe and secure manner.  Crews will get to know the boats before a series of quick races following racing rules which are explained and overseen by our resident qualified Race Officer. A full day with plenty of adrenalin fuelled moments and competitiveness is promised; perfect for team building or entertaining important clients.
